Staying calm through adversity

There is so much coming and going, so much change occurring around us at this time, that is out of our control. What can you do to help maintain your balance and equilibrium?
You can sit quietly and notice your breath.
You can tune into all the sounds around you.
You can bring awareness to your physical body.
And then you may notice the silence inside yourself and the spaciousness therein.
When it feels like changing seasons and storms are whistling around you, you may find it helpful to imagine and emulate the qualities of a mountain. The “mountain meditation” can be helpful to keep your inner calm and solidity, focusing on qualities of stability, strength and courage in the face of adversity.
