Can you feel it? Change is in the air

Can you feel it?…Change is in the air!

Well I don’t know about you but I have found this January to be the longest month ever!

But can you feel that change is coming?  The days are gradually getting longer.  When we have sunshine, the sun is getting stronger.  Have you heard the new excitable birdsong?  The sheep and other animals will be starting to give birth this month.  The moorhens on my pond have their first batch of chicks in February.  The crocuses and snowdrops have arrived.

Spring is on its way!

Over this two week period we celebrate Imbolc (the celtic fire festival, also knowns as Brigid’s Day) and the Chinese new year.  This is the real time to celebrate the New Year – this is the start of the new solar year.

This is the time to start laying down your plans for the year ahead.  Looking at what you want to achieve, create and manifest.  And what changes you wish to see in your life.

You will now most likely start to have moments of feeling surges of energy or motivation, following a long hard winter.  This is a great time to spend some time quietly pondering over any areas in your life you would like to see some change.  Things you wish to let go of – physically and emotionally; and things you wish to manifest – physically and emotionally.

A great way to do this is by looking at the different areas of your life:

Home.  Work.  Health.  Body.  Finances.  Relationships.  Relaxation/downtime/hobbies.

Write one or two sentences about each one that you would like to be true this year.  Then for each of these sentences explain your reasons for wanting this.  Make sure you keep these sentences in the positive – say what you want; not what you don’t want.

For example:
Body:

I would like to regain my ideal weight of……because I am feeling sluggish; because I like it when my clothes fit comfortably; because I know it is better for my overall health to be a lighter weight.

I would like to feel strong and flexible…… because it feels good when my body moves easily; because I enjoy feeling good; because I want to keep feeling mobile so I can enjoy the exercise I do.

Finances:

I would like to earn more money….. because I want to buy a new car that is reliable; because I want to go on holiday abroad because I love the sunshine and relaxing by the sea; because I want to be able to pay my bills easily and without worrying.

Work:

I would like to change my job……because this takes up a big part of my daily life and I want to enjoy my life; because my daily wellbeing is important to feeling good; because I want to feel like I’m doing something worthwhile and helping others.

I recommend doing this exercise one day a week for the month of February in preparation for when the spring energy, motivation and inspiration to take action starts appearing from March onwards.

 

As we are in the time of the fire festival of Imbolc, this is a great time also to write down things that are troubling you or worrying you and you wish to let go of.  This may include some of the traumas that you’ve been experiencing since the start of the pandemic last year.  Write them down and set fire to them ceremonially (and safely).  Let them be transformed and released from your life.

Release what you no longer need and allow in the new.  Make this your best year yet!
